Respected referee and current Chairman Colin Ansell has urged people to help the branch and fill the vacant committe posts.

"As you are aware the number of people who attend the monthly RA meetings this season has dropped. At a recent committee meeting it was felt that maybe the branch needs a new direction and obviously new blood to now move it forward" said Ansell.

"On my suggestion, we are inviting applications for Chairman,Vice Chairman,Training Officer,Social Secretary and Rep to attend the 2 Leagues. As you also know Adrian is stepping down this AGM and we feel the time is maybe right for a complete change."

All applicants will have to be or become members and the applications have to be with the secretary [Adrian Adcock] by April 1st 2008.

The next branch meeting is on Thursday 13th March at Red Arrows Club. Kick off 745pm.

The Kent County FA are delighted to confirm the referee promotions for 2007/08.

The list includes 5 Thanet Referees and Kent Referees Development Officer, John Newson said "I would like to congratulate all the officials on their promotion and wish them well for the future".

Here's an interesting question for all you football anoraks.  In which specialist field of the game can you be fully qualified and yet never have to show you can do the job.  For those of us who can go back a few years the ex pro Len Shackleton dedicated a page in his autobiography to what the average club chairman knew about football and left it blank! These days though the answer is much closer to home as the reality is that a Referee can pass the examination and call him/herself a referee literally for the rest of their life as I can testify having seen more than one obituary in my local paper referring to the deceased as a referee when I can recall attending a course but not a whistle blown in anger!

The Kent County FA are pleased to confirm the 2008 Cup Final Appointments.

The appointments included 5 Thanet Referees. Kent Referees Development Officer, John Newson said "I would like to personally congratulate all match officials and wish them well on the day of their games".
